A new SE tube amplifier project from DT667? Here it is people.
The "Green God" by DT667.
The motivation for building the "Green God" was to have a tube amp that required the use of a separate preamplifier. DT667 owns several vintage and DIY tube preamps.
DT667 revised a SE 6AQ5 console stereo amp with 5751 driver stage into a SE Output Stage Only stereo amplifier.
The circuit is very simple : FW UF4007 SS rectifier into a CRCRC power supply filter with bleeder resistor added across the last cap for safety.
The 6.3V heater circuit utilizes a faux center tap for hum-free operation.
The 6AQ5 output stage tetrode connected with local feedback and cathode biased in a traditional manner per standard RCA tube manual recommendations.
Currently doing some subjective listening tests with the new amp and a DIY 12SN7 dual triode preamp - a one tube preamp that features a LOW DCR primary PT (4 ohms).
A Lenovo ideapad 330S playing Qobuz through a Topping E30 DAC provides streaming audio selections.
A schematic with operating points and additional photos are posted below.
Enjoy.
